Finance & Payroll Assistant
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 (dependent on experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Hybrid (UK-based)
A growing organisation is seeking a Finance & Payroll Assistant to join its established finance team. This is a key role supporting payroll operations and delivering transactional, financial, and management accounting services across a group of companies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage payroll using Sage (or equivalent) and ensure HMRC connectivity
2. Administer Bupa deductions and issue payslips
3. Process payroll payments via online banking
4. Prepare and post month-end payroll journals
5. Administer pension schemes and salary sacrifice programmes
6. Reconcile payroll figures and produce year-end returns
7. Process expense claims and analyse timesheets
8. Support month-end financial reporting and VAT submissions
9. Maintain fixed asset registers and intercompany balances
About You:
10. Educated to GCSE level 4-6 (or equivalent) in Maths and English
11. Experience with Sage (or similar payroll software)
12. Previous experience in finance and payroll functions
13. Strong Excel skills
14. Experience with month-end procedures and processes
Desirable:
15. HND (or equivalent) in a finance discipline (e.g., AAT)
16. Experience in both private and public sector finance environments
17. Familiarity with D365 systems
