Overview
As a Project Manager you will manage your own projects or workstreams on major infrastructure projects. The role supports the development of a growing and diverse business while progressing your own career. The focus is to help build the growing business and support our clients by winning and delivering high‑quality project and programme management services that contribute to society and make the communities in which we live and work better.
Team
Our North Eastern transportation team is expanding, with multiple exciting opportunities for project and commercial managers across York, Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle. The core team consists of professionally qualified and experienced Project/Programme Managers, Planners, Commercial Managers and Quantity Surveyors.
Responsibilities
* Manage development, design stages, delivery and handover of built environment and infrastructure projects, ensuring processes and procedures are applied and governance protocols followed.
* Develop and maintain a project management plan for each project.
* Scope projects in accordance with agreed objectives, identifying and executing deliverables.
* Achieve key parameters of cost, time and quality, providing a realistic action plan against deficiencies.
* Liaise with H&S&W and CDM Representatives, acting on advice to ensure Health and Safety compliance matters are satisfied.
* Establish effective stakeholder and communication management processes and structures, undertake stakeholder mapping and manage relationships.
* Liaise across commercial, procurement and general project control functions, providing project management input to deliver within agreed parameters.
* Assess resource and competence levels in supply‑chain teams, taking reactive measures to ensure performance.
* Administer the NEC suite of contracts for professional and contractor commissions, addressing performance to ensure contractually successful outcomes.
Candidate Specification
* Membership (or working towards) of the APM.
* Substantial project management expertise across a range of disciplines, contract/procurement routes and market sectors.
* Experience managing and leading large project teams to successful outcomes.
* High degree of commercial acumen and knowledge of planning and project controls.
* Ability to operate autonomously and as part of a larger team.
* Excellent IT skills – Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
* Strong communication skills including writing reports and presenting.
* Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients, stakeholders, colleagues and the supply chain.
* Flexible approach to work and willingness to travel to client sites and other Mott MacDonald offices.
