Job Description:
Our growing Infrastructure, Projects and Energy (IPE) team is looking for an experienced Lawyer (4+PQE) to join our team in Manchester to advise public and private sector clients on a variety of energy and utilities, social infrastructure and transport projects.
In this role, you will work on commercial contracts relating to infrastructure and public services and advise on issues related to energy, utilities, social infrastructure, and transport sectors, acting for public sector bodies, utilities, companies, developers, and financial institutions.
THE TEAM:
Renowned IPE practice with top-tier rankings, offering multidisciplinary expertise across water, energy, transport, healthcare, and infrastructure. The team advises on complex projects, including novel schemes.
Notable Projects include:
* Social infrastructure: Turks and Caicos Hospital PPP, Indonesian hospital, Salford housing regeneration, NHS Trust IP commercialization, private hospital NHS procurement.
* Energy and utilities: Haweswater Aqueduct, Sizewell C nuclear power, Gas to the West pipeline, Havant Thicket project.
* Transport: Rail, urban transit, ports, freight projects for DfT, Network Rail, TfL, GMCA.
Recent Work includes:
* National Grid: Outsourcing services.
* Shell: Gas tolling agreement.
* Transport authorities: Bus reform, renationalization of rail, rolling stock, rail stations, nuclear decommissioning, and advice on distressed PFI projects.
Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating contracts, managing transactions, supervising junior colleagues, and business development.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:
* 4+ years PQE in Infrastructure, Energy, or Transport (national/international).
* Experience with complex transactions, strong drafting skills, client-facing, proactive in training and business development, capable of mentoring junior staff, and passionate about infrastructure sectors.
