Overview
Depot and Disposal Team Leader – Bankhead Depot
Salary: £39,129 - £46,023 | Hours: 36 per week
4 days on, 4 days off. Managing multiple sites on either the East or West of the city, Depot and Disposal team leaders will be responsible for ensuring the HWRC and WTS in their area run efficiently, safely and within Waste Management Licence conditions at all times.
They will manage a team of site staff, drivers and plant operators, ensuring high levels of customer service and staff performance at all times.
Salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annual increases until the top of the range. Happy to talk flexible working.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the depot and disposal team across multiple sites, ensuring operations are efficient, safe and compliant with Waste Management Licence conditions.
* Manage a team of site staff, drivers and plant operators; maintain high levels of customer service and staff performance.
* Be responsible for record keeping, quick resolution of on-site issues, and producing Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
* Deliver Toolbox Talks to ensure staff understand requirements and work procedures; monitor and enforce correct working practices.
* Demonstrate computer literacy, including querying booking systems, handling inquiries across systems, logging changes on My HR and similar systems, reporting incidents, and using email and other computer tools proficiently.
* Manage staff performance and recruitment; update site working plans and liaise with external bodies such as SEPA, APHA, Fire Service, HSE and other council services.
* Ensure broader depot safety and compliance by coordinating with staff from other parts of CEC and liaising with related teams; work with Waste Infrastructure Officer and representatives from other service areas to address issues, dangers or defects.
* Hold and pursue appropriate qualifications, including ensuring COTC level 4 in Transfer of Hazardous Waste or ability to gain within two years of employment starting.
Qualifications
* Certificate of Technical Competency (COTC) level 4 in Transfer of Hazardous Waste or the ability to gain this qualification within two years of employment commencing.
* Strong IT and administrative skills: capable of using booking systems, logging changes, reporting incidents and communicating effectively via email and other systems.
