Job Purpose
The role focuses on inspection, maintenance and repair of vehicles, plant and equipment within Aberdeen City Council’s fleet workshops and depots. The successful candidate will work independently, communicate effectively with the management team and customers, and adhere to a weekly rota shift pattern.

PVG Membership
Roles requiring Public Vulnerability Group (PVG) membership are subject to a cost‑recovery arrangement. The Council covers the initial PVG membership fee (£18 for existing PVG scheme members or £59 for non‑members) which is deducted from the employee’s first full month’s salary. PVG membership is mandatory for full‑time roles with a salary of £30,000 and above.
Role
* Inspect, maintain and repair vehicles, plant and equipment within fleet workshops and depots.
* Work on own initiative and communicate effectively with management and customers.
* Adhere to a weekly shift pattern: Week 1 – Monday‑Thursday 6 am‑2 pm, Friday 6 am‑11:30 pm; Week 2 – Monday‑Thursday 2 pm‑10 pm, Friday 11:30 am‑5 pm.
Required Qualifications
* City & Guilds, SVQ Construction – Plant Maintenance or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
Additional Skills
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Effective communication with customers.
