Overview
Care Assistant for a young girl in Cramlington. Part-time role at £13.74 per hour; Full-time equivalence approx. £26.8k FTE.
To provide support for a 7-year-old female child with Autism and Epilepsy. The role focuses on creating a structured routine, safety, and engaging activities to support development and well-being.
Responsibilities
* Play & Engage: Help her enjoy her favourite activities both at home and in the community (baby dolls, colouring, crafts, garden play, park visits, and scooter rides).
* Routine Support: Develop and follow routines to provide security and reinforce positive communication and behaviour.
* Supervision & Safety: Provide close supervision as she has no danger awareness.
* Community Activities: As trust builds, help her access safe activities in the community and experiences outside the home.
* Empathy & Patience: Understand her communication style and build a strong, positive relationship to support expression.
Hours & Benefits
4 hours per week during term weeks and 6 hours per week during school holiday weeks. During term-time, support is required on Saturday mornings for the full 4 hours, alternating weekly between two nights after school (Wednesday and Friday) for 2 hours. On school days, collection from school at 3pm is preferred. Some flexibility around days during school holiday weeks.
Rate of pay: £13.74 per hour. Holiday entitlement: 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata. Any out-of-pocket expenses will be met by the employer. Benefit Scheme ILGPA to be discussed at the interview.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Experience and a positive understanding of children who have disabilities
* Genuine interest in working with children with complex needs
* Ability to respond positively to changes in behaviour
* High initiative, punctuality, and reliability (the child cannot be left unsupervised)
* Flexibility; a happy, positive, and caring nature
* Respect confidentiality
* Full, clean driving licence with business use insurance
* Enhanced DBS (cost covered by employer)
Training & Documentation
* Training: Essential PA Guide; Safeguarding Adults/Children
* Transportation: Full UK driving licence; own personal car
* Medical: Epilepsy Awareness
