Location of post: Sandfields Library, Morrison Road, Sandfields, Port Talbot, SA12 6TG
Workstyle: Fixed workplace
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic person to join our library team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a wide range of library and information services, promoting the library, and engaging with the community.
Main duties
1. Perform routine tasks related to the operation of the Library Service, including welcoming users, enrolling new members, processing stock, issuing and returning loans, and handling requests and enquiries.
2. Assist with events and activities at the library.
3. Promote digital skills and support library users.
4. Provide community information, including health and wellbeing.
5. Work with the team to promote reading and literacy.
6. Assist in the day-to-day running of the library.
Experience and skills
Required:
* Experience working with the public, preferably in a library or customer service environment.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
Ideally:
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to undertake routine tasks successfully.
* Good ICT knowledge and ability to support library users.
* Positive approach to organising, running, and supporting activities and events to benefit the community.
Additional information
As part of the team, you will be required to work Saturdays, for which an enhanced rate of pay will be provided.
The successful candidate should be flexible with hours and location.
