Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dental Health Support Worker based at Central Clinic - Kilmarnock.

What you will do:

As a Dental Health Support Worker (DHSW) you will work within our Dental Services Childsmile Team. As part of the East HSCP Primary Care Team
you will work as part of an integrated dental team and wider multidisciplinary team. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the national Childsmile Programmes. As part of the Community and Practice Programme you will be responsible for supporting children and families on referral from health care professionals to provide oral health and dietary advice as well as supporting various community groups. In nursery and primary schools you will ensure the delivery of the Toothbrushing and Fluoride Varnish Programmes. You will also provide support to the Public Dental Service clinicians in their delivery of the National Dental Inspection Programme.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

A minimum two year’s relevant experience in the health care setting or other agency or SVQIII equivalent in health or social care is essential as well
as previous experience of working with children or involvement with health improvement and /or community development initiatives. The post holder should preferably have the NES accredited Childsmile Training certificate. However training will be provided and the post holder will require to attend the 6 week NES Childsmile online training course. Excellent IT and written and verbal communication skills are essential as well as excellent organisational skills. The post holder must have excellent listening and interpersonal skills and a commitment to working in a client centred way.
The post holder must be able to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative without direct supervision.

37 hours per week

UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

A UK car licence/car ownership is essential to this role.
