Job Title: Engineering Manager Location: Isle of Wight, Cowes – Full time onsite Salary: Up to £78,000 (dependent on skills and experience) Who we are: Join BAE Systems and you’ll be part of something bigger. Role description: The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all full-time engineering resources across assigned projects, spanning systems, software and hardware disciplines. They will ensure activities are clearly defined, effectively planned and delivered on schedule, with robust resource forecasting, succession planning and targeted recruitment for critical skills. The role involves building strong relationships with customers, stakeholders and suppliers, while representing engineering in external engagements. Working closely with project and technical leaders, they will support integration across development and in-service support, identify cross-programme risks, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. They will also manage technical risks and ensure engineering work is delivered to meet cost, schedule and performance requirements. Core Duties: Engineering Management \: Engineering Manager for Future product developments. Direct customer facing, liaising with the customer Engineering authority and delivering against requirements. Responsible for Engineering output and Engineering Management sign-off for Data, Reports, Change etc. Resource Planning & Forecasting \: Maintain the Engineering forward load for area of responsibility. Liaise with PM’s & Sector Resource Manager to review and underwrite engineering resource forecast. Contribute to Knowledge Management and Succession Planning. Using judgement to resource, allocate and manage staff and facilities in order to provide competent and professional Engineering services against project budgets to meet objectives Produce and Manage Engineering/Project Schedules \: Work with Project Control, PMs & PEMs in the production and maintenance of engineering/project schedules Budget Responsibility for \: Future product based projects Attend project reviews involving internal stakeholders and customer representatives Manage & Maintain Engineering/Project Risks \: Work with Project Control, PM’s, PEMs and SDAs to contribute to the Risk Assessment Cycle Engineering Management to Bids \: Provide Engineering Management input to bid activities, such as co-ordination and review of engineering inputs and estimates, co-ordinating TBRs. Essential Skills: Degree, HND or HNC qualified in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent level of competence Recognised knowledge and experience in the broad discipline of Engineering Management of multi-discipline teams and work packages Knowledge of the complete Engineering Lifecycle with experience of operating across the phases Familiarity with other related areas of the business to achieve project and business objectives.
