Do you get genuine satisfaction from seeing a perfectly formatted quote go out error-free?
Do you spot problems before they become issues?
Can you juggle multiple priorities without dropping any balls?
We're looking for a Sales Administrator who's brilliant at the details but can see the bigger picture too.
Here's the Honest Truth
We need help.
Right now.
We've got a backlog of quotes to get through, contract renewals coming up fast (they always do in January), and we need someone who can jump in, get organised, and help us catch up while maintaining quality.
This isn't a glamorous role description.
It's admin work.
Quote generation, renewal management, CRM updates, error-checking, process-following admin work.
But here's why it's interesting:
As you learn our business – our products, our clients, our services – this role naturally evolves. You'll start spotting opportunities, having client conversations, and developing into a more strategic account support position. We're planning to hire a Business Development Manager later who you'll support, and eventually we'll bring someone in below you to do the admin while you focus on the proactive stuff.
Think of this as your foundation year.
Learn the business inside out while doing critical work, then grow into something more strategic.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Day-to-day:
1. Generating quotes for IT hardware, software, and services
2. Managing contract renewals (mainly schools and academies)
3. Administering software subscriptions (Adobe, Microsoft, etc.)
4. Maintaining CRM and ensuring nothing falls through cracks
5. Creating proposals and client documentation
6. Triple-checking everything before it goes out (that £5k quote shouldn't say £500)
7. Supporting the technical team with sales-related admin
As you settle in:
8. Direct client conversations about renewals and opportunities
9. Identifying upsell opportunities ("They use product X, why not Y?")
10. Feeding back process improvements
11. Taking ownership of the quote-to-renewal cycle
12. Eventually managing a junior admin when we hire one
What We Need
Essential:
13. Meticulous attention to detail (seriously, this is non-negotiable)
14. Strong admin skills and organizational ability
15. Comfortable with numbers, pricing, calculations
16. Clear communication (written and verbal)
17. Quick learner with new systems
18. Ability to spot when something doesn't add up
Personal qualities that matter more than experience:
19. You ask questions rather than guess
20. You're proactive – you see what needs doing and do it
21. You stay calm when it's busy
22. You're genuinely curious and want to understand what we're selling
23. You're a team player (this role touches everyone)
Nice to have but we'll train you:
24. Experience in sales admin or quote management
25. Knowledge of IT products/services
26. Understanding of schools or public sector
27. Previous MSP experience
What You Get
Salary: £35,000 per year
Benefits:
28. Full private medical insurance (including existing conditions) with option to add family
29. Death in service benefit (12 months' salary)
30. Pension
31. 21 days holiday + bank holidays + birthday off + 1 extra day per year of service (up to 30 days)

33. Free parking in Hindley Green
The Real Benefits:
34. Clear progression path as the role evolves
35. Training on products, services, and systems

Work Environment:

41. Monday-Friday, standard hours (flexibility when needed)
42. Kitchen for proper lunch breaks away from desk
43. Mix of focused solo work and team collaboration
44. New lighting being installed (we're always improving)
45. New office planned within 2 years
About abtec Managed IT
We've been doing this for 30 years. Microsoft Gold Partner, Crown Commercial Supplier, specializing in cloud solutions and cyber security for education sector and beyond.
We're not a flashy startup or a corporate machine. We're a stable, growing MSP where people build careers. We have engineers who've been here 20+ years. That doesn't happen by accident – it happens because we treat people well, invest in development, and create a good place to work.
Our clients are mainly schools and academies. That means our work directly impacts education, which is pretty rewarding.
The Honest Bits
Why this role matters: Every quote you generate represents a project that keeps schools running and our team busy. Every renewal maintains relationships built over years (sometimes decades). Every error you catch saves us from looking unprofessional or losing margin.
You're the foundation that lets our technical team focus on service delivery and our directors focus on growth. Without someone doing this brilliantly, everything suffers.
What the first few months look like: Busy. You'll be learning fast, asking lots of questions (which we encourage), and helping us catch up on that backlog. But you won't be alone – we'll train you properly and support you through it.
What we're looking for: Someone who finds satisfaction in doing detailed work really well. Someone who sees the bigger picture but doesn't overlook the small stuff. Someone who wants to grow into a more strategic role but is happy to build the foundation first.
If that sounds boring to you, this isn't your role. If it sounds like exactly what you're good at, let's talk.
