Residential Support Worker - WMF2137e

Location: Hart Street, Ulverston

Contract Type: Permanent

Are you looking for a role where you can really make a difference to the life of a young person?

Here at 23 Hart Street, we provide residential short breaks for children, aged 8 - 18, with a disability, Autism, or complex needs. We provide the opportunity to develop and learn in an environment that emphasizes fun.

We are a specially built home, enabling us to create the perfect environment to entertain, interact with, and provide for all of our young people's individual needs. We also love to be part of the community and regularly take trips out.

Working in our children's short break home means being part of a young person's day-to-day life. This involves supporting them through their highs and lows. Our support workers are fulfilled by the idea of making even the smallest positive changes in the young people's lives. We celebrate the little things!

Our team is experienced and well-established, and we are looking for like-minded, enthusiastic, and passionate people to join us!

This is a highly rewarding role that can be challenging at times. You will need to be confident, self-motivated, and genuinely want to make a difference.

You will have the chance to build closer relationships with the young people and their families, supporting them to have their voices heard in all aspects of their lives.

About this opportunity

As a Residential Support Worker, you will need to communicate and interact effectively with individuals at various levels, providing person-centered support. Your responsibilities will include administering medication, providing personal care, and carrying out manual handling tasks. You will also be required to manage challenging situations, including those involving upset, distress, and challenging behavior.

You should be able to work independently and as part of a team. You will be expected to act as a keyworker for young people, maintaining both written and digital records as required. This role involves working weekends, bank holidays, and includes sleep-in duties at the home.

Who we are looking for…

We are seeking a patient and resilient individual with exceptional communication skills, who will work with compassion, positivity, and bring some fun into this role.

Ideally, you will already have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification, and experience working in a similar setting. However, if you have the right attributes and a passion for working with children, we may offer full training where you will gain your qualification within 2 years of appointment.

A degree of flexibility is required to meet the needs of our shift patterns, including weekends and holidays.

We need people who can be flexible and work well as part of a close and supportive team.

If this rewarding career appeals to you, please apply today!
