Walsall Academy is seeking a committed and proactive Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead to join our team. This essential role ensures the safety and wellbeing of all students within our care.
Start date: To be agreed with the successful candidate.
Employment: Full‑time preferred; part‑time will be considered.
Responsibilities
* Handle safeguarding referrals regarding students.
* Complete relevant paperwork and update safeguarding systems.
* Attend safeguarding meetings for students.
* Attend relevant training and events.
* Conduct home visits for vulnerable students absent from school.
* Liaise with parents and carers regarding safeguarding.
* Communicate with external professionals or agencies regarding safeguarding issues, including making referrals where appropriate.
* Provide support for students as appropriate.
* Liaise with staff to ensure the best outcomes for students.
* Collate and monitor safeguarding data.
* Understand the filtering and monitoring systems and processes in place in the school, including how to manage them effectively and to raise concerns when identified.
* Ensure filtering and monitoring systems block harmful and inappropriate content without unreasonably impacting teaching and learning.
* Maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour and uphold the Nolan Principles.
* Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, ensuring that the Academy’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy, e‑Safety Policies and the Code of Conduct are adhered to.
* Protect confidentiality and security of data in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
* Adhere to the Academy’s Health and Safety Policy.
School Term Time | Hours
Monday‑Thursday 8:15am‑5:00pm | Friday 8:15am‑3:45pm (200 days per year)
