This is an exciting opportunity to work as a medical secretary within our team and to gain hands on experience of working within a fast paced GP practice.
The role will be 18 hours per week, working the following shift pattern:
Monday 8:00-14:00
Tuesday 8:00-14:00
Friday 12:30-18:30
Main duties of the job
You will be required to provide an efficient, comprehensive secretarial and administrative support service without direct supervision, working within broad procedural guidelines to deliver an excellent service to our patients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To prioritise all incoming correspondence and distribute and process as necessary
To prepare and send referrals, letters, reports from incoming tasks
Ensure Systm One address book, templates and pathwaysrelating to referrals and providers are up to date
Use e-referral service for referrals and advice and guidance
Manage work lists on e-referral service
Ensure that all urgent and fast track 2WW referrals are processed immediately
Respond to any patient queries relating to an existing referral or hospital follow ups
Liaising with other healthcare providers regarding issues relating to existing referrals/letters and queries the clinicians may need resolving
Monitor the secretarial email inbox and process any queriesor responses received
To communicate and liaise between all disciplines of staff as required
Maintain any personal correspondence files as required by Practices
Perform any reasonable administrative tasks as requested
Take part in team meetings, bringing any issues/ideas etc to discuss
Person Specification
Experience
* EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, OTHER APTITUDES
* 1. General education to GCSE pass standard in English and Math
* 4. General office experience
* 5. Experience of dealing effectively with the general public
* 6. Experience of making efficient use of booking systems
* 7. Working knowledge of medical terminology and read coding
* 8. Local knowledge of the healthcare system
* 10. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive professional attitude
* 11. Ability to work as part of the team or independently
