Pindar Nursery is based with the Early Years Support Team and is part of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Support Service. The nursery supports children aged 2 to 5 with SEND and /or complex health needs
We are seeking a reliable and practical Premises Officer to help maintain our nursery environment to the highest standards for 15 hours per week term time only. This is a vital role, ensuring our setting remains safe, secure, and well-maintained for our children, families, and staff.
Your Role
You will be responsible for carrying out day-to-day maintenance and minor repairs, ensuring that the nursery building and outdoor areas are safe, clean and well-presented at all times. The role includes supporting health and safety compliance through regular checks and accurate record-keeping, as well as undertaking basic DIY tasks and liaising with external contractors when specialist work is required. You will also monitor site security, including opening and closing the building where applicable, support infection control and cleanliness standards, and respond promptly and effectively to any premises-related issues as they arise.
What you’ll need
You will need to be practical and hands-on, with the ability to work independently and take initiative. Previous experience in caretaking, premises management, maintenance is desirable, although not essential. You will have an understanding of, or a willingness to learn about, working within a SEND environment and will demonstrate a calm, patient and respectful approach when working around young children. A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is essential, alongside good communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude. The ability to be flexible and maintain an excellent sense of humour is essential.
