West of Scotland Radionuclide Dispensary Former Western Infirmary
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday 6.15am to 2.15pm.
A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic pharmacist or pharmaceutical scientist to lead the pharmaceutical Quality Assurance (QA) service at the Radionuclide Dispensary within the former Western Infirmary site, to ensure compliance with pharmaceutical Good Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Practice standards and the sites Quality Management System (QMS).
The department provides individual radiopharmaceutical patient doses to Nuclear Medicine Departments throughout Health Boards in the West of Scotland each weekday. The main product used is Technetium-99m, so doses are made and dispatched daily within a very tight time frame.
The department holds an MHRA Specials licence and is the largest NHS radiopharmacy in the UK. The post holder will be named on the MS licence as responsible for QA.
This is an exciting time to take up this post as a replacement facility is under construction. The post holder will be involved in developing the QMS and Validation Master Plan for the new facility, leading on some aspects of the project (e.g. documentation and validation) as well as maintaining the QMS of the current facility.
