On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Senior Compliance Assurance Manager for a remote contract role until the end of the year.
Purpose of the role:
This role supports the UK Chief Compliance Officer and the Head of Regulatory Affairs and Assurance in delivering risk-based compliance assurance across the UK business. It involves planning, conducting, and reporting on assurance reviews of varying complexity to test compliance with FCA, PRA, and outcome regulations, while identifying gaps, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
The position requires analysing regulatory themes and industry trends, maintaining an external view on developments and best practices, and recommending practical, proportionate, and sustainable solutions. Working collaboratively with senior leaders, the role contributes to strengthening the assurance framework, improving operational efficiency, and mitigating regulatory risks through a range of approaches including traditional, data-led, and ongoing reviews.
What you'll do:
Work closely with the Head of Regulatory Affairs and Assurance (UK) in setting the assurance framework and agreeing the assurance and monitoring priorities of the function.
Ensure that the Compliance assurance methodology is kept current and in line with best practice.
Track fulfilment of recommendations/actions set by the Team and escalating any concerns.
Produce high quality deliverables on time according to plan focusing on those matters that are important.
Complete Compliance assurance reviews across the business to provide assurance that the business is operating within its policies and procedures, and within law and regulation.
Analyse themes arising from reviews and identify opportunities across the business to mitigate risk and make optimal use of data reviews.
Weigh up FCA rules and principles-based regulation, apply them in a business context and formulate strong recommendations for improvement.
Manage relationships with key stakeholders with ability to understand different perspectives, building strong relationships, at all levels of the organisation, to agree the actions required to close issues noted during the reviews.
The skills you'll need:
Excellent understanding of and ability to interpret the FCA regulation including the FCA Handbook and other critical regulatory areas is essential. In particular, knowledge of the ICOB, SYSC, DISP and PRIN handbooks are essential.
A good understanding of the regulatory provisions applying to commercial and speciality lines with industry experience in regulatory projects and remediation programmes.
Detailed knowledge of both the current FCA regulatory expectations in respect to conduct risk, and customer outcomes.
Strong understanding of general insurance regulation and practical application within a business to ensure compliance with good understanding of general insurance operations and activities with an execution focus and practical approach to regulatory risk.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
Have excellent communication (verbal and written), stakeholder management, influencing, teamwork and analytical skills.
