You will have an aptitude and interest in analysis, and a general understanding of mechanical or electrical engineering.

Although advantageous, specific software and energy industry experience is not a requirement as you will be supported through your role to develop analysis capabilities and knowledge.

The focus of this role is product analysis which typically includes performing and/or reviewing mechanical, thermal, and electromagnetic analyses of cables and umbilicals, and associated hardware. This will be done to JDR and industry standard guidelines and will include the production of associated reports, calculations, and procedures.

Reporting to and working closely with experienced Analysis Engineers, there will also be the opportunity to be involved in the development of analysis methods, software and tools, and their implementation within the Technology, Engineering and Analysis teams.

* Problem‑solve by undertaking investigations of alternative data variables, designs, configurations or hardware devices when required.

* Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Progress work tasks you are assigned, often with challenging timescales, to endeavour to meet project schedules for on‑time delivery, with a core focus on quality and integrity.
* Develop analysis methodologies and support their implementation within the department, to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the team and of the business.
* Contribute and participate in the development, improvement, and implementation of company procedures and systems as necessary.
* Assist in the development of analysis rules, procedures, specifications, and tools associated with the analysis of the umbilical and cable product to ensure traceability and consistency of methodology and continuous improvement.
* Review and comment on customer requirements, specifications and data to facilitate timely execution of analysis and prevent downstream process delays.
* Clearly specify data and requirements to support any subcontracted analysis work scopes to meet client delivery and / or to support Tendering team queries for manufacturing or FEED (front end engineering design) opportunities.

Qualifications

* Be educated to degree level or equivalent.
* 2 years in a previous job role with an engineering component is essential.
* Enjoy and have strong problem‑solving skills.
* Understand the basic principles of FEA.
* Exhibit an aptitude for mathematical software and spatial reasoning.
* Demonstrate attention to detail and engineering judgement.
* Be a supportive team player.
* Have strong communication skills, including proven experience of writing technical reports in English.

Desired (but not essential)

* Experience in design, engineering or analysis of cables, umbilicals, flexibles or rigid pipelines, moorings or floating platforms, or installation offshore of hardware or flexible products.
* Experience of FEA software (previous use of ORCAFLEX, COMSOL, SHEAR7, VIVANA, HELICA, UFLEX, ANSYS, ABACUS, INVENTOR FEA, NASTRAN, or similar tools would be beneficial, but training will be provided on software as needed).
* Proficiency in programming using Python or a similar language.
* Working to a budget or time constraints, and/or managing a project.
* Demonstrated experience managing your own workload and competing demands on your time.
* Exposure to manufacturing, testing or installation of equipment or products.
* Exposure to discussing complex problem solving with external parties.
* Demonstrated experience in training or support less experienced team members as they complete engineering tasks.
