Position Overview

This is a full‑time position (37.5 hours per week) offered on a fixed‑term basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high‑quality care, making a significant contribution to the clinical and nursing input within the team. The role includes participating in the referral and allocation process, undertaking assessments, delivering evidence‑based interventions, risk management, safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, and care coordination. The post holder will also contribute to case discussions and wider service meetings and provide consultation and supervision to colleagues, students and partner services.


Key Responsibilities

* To develop and provide highly specialist evidence‑based interventions for service users, drawing on a wide range of theoretical frameworks and treatment modalities.
* To deliver timely, accessible services through both clinic‑based and outreach models.
* To provide highly specialist advice and consultation regarding formulations and treatment to colleagues, external agencies working autonomously within professional guidelines.
* To care‑coordinate a caseload of service users, delivering highly specialist assessments and integrated care.
* To be involved in developing nursing practice in the service, including the supervision of nursing colleagues and colleagues from other disciplines.
* To actively participate in supervision, appraisal and professional development to enhance clinical skills, e.g. nurse prescribing.
* To chair/attend MDTs for all teams providing clinical sign‑off.
* To work collaboratively and provide nursing consultation to other relevant professions within HPFT and external agencies to build capacity in early identification and physical and psychological management of disorders and/or disability.
* To take a leading role for service innovation and development, including projects with other junior staff to ensure delivery of safe, effective nursing, and make a significant contribution to nursing input, participating in the referral and allocation process, assessments, treatment, risk management, safeguarding vulnerable children and adults, care coordination, case discussions and service‑related meetings. Offering consultations and supervision to colleagues and students as well as staff in other services.


Qualifications

* Any professional and accredited qualification of Nurse, Social Worker, Clinical Psychologist, Child and Psychotherapist and/or Systemic Psychotherapist.
* Degree level qualification or equivalent experience.
* Willingness to complete further training and qualification identified as appropriate to the role.
* Strong communication skills and leadership training.
* You must have appropriate UK professional registration.


Desirable Criteria

* Experience of working with child and adolescent service users of mental health services, extensive experience of working with CYPMHS.
* Leadership skills.
* Range of work procedures and practices; base level of theoretical knowledge.
* Knowledge and experience to deal with non‑routine issues such as problem‑solving for an area of work or developing alternative or additional procedure.
* Knowledge of specialist functional/medical/legal terms, organisational policies and procedures.
* Experience in a mental health environment or NHS, experience in working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience liaising with external agencies and report writing.
* Awareness of mental health problems affecting children and young people.
* Experience and understanding of neurodevelopmental difficulties, including autism spectrum disorder and ADHD.
* Awareness of child protection policies and procedures.
* Able to provide and receive routine information requiring tact or persuasive skills, considering barriers to understanding (e.g., anxious patients, cultural differences, language or communication difficulties).
