Building Surveyor – Planned Works & Responsive Repairs
Join an established property team to deliver and shape both investment projects and rapid repairs that make a real difference for residents. We’re seeking a degree-qualified Building Surveyor ready for a varied role covering strategic planned works and hands-on responsive maintenance, with excellent progression and development opportunities.
Role Overview
* Lead building surveying and cost advice across planned investment, upgrades, and refurbishment programmes.
* Take ownership of defect diagnosis and remedial recommendations for responsive repairs, working closely with in-house and external contractors.
* Scope, specify, and validate works using robust stock data, ensuring every pound is invested wisely.
* Resolve land management and neighbourly issues—boundaries, encroachment, party wall, wayleaves, licences, acquisitions, and disposals—seeking external expertise as needed.
* Oversee applications for alterations/improvements by residents and leaseholders.
* Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, Health & Safety, regulatory and best practice standards.
* Drive improvements in asset information, data quality, and adoption of innovations in building repair and management.
What’s in it for you?
* Genuine variety—combine project-based investment with rapid, resident-focused repair work, balancing strategic and practical surveying.
* Operate across a diverse portfolio: planned maintenance, major upgrades, compliance works, and reactive repairs, always putting people first.
* Be empowered—bring new ideas for efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction, improving lives in real neighbourhoods.
* Work within a supportive, ambitious team focused on professional development, regular feedback, and technical growth.
* Competitive salary: £40,000–£47,000 DOE, exceptional benefits, flexible/hybrid working, car/travel allowance, and strong promotion paths.
You’ll need
* A degree in Building Surveying (or Quantity Surveying with strong building expertise).
* Experience delivering planned works and or responsive repairs—ideally in housing, local authority, or commercial sectors.
* RICS, CIOB or relevant professional membership (or working towards).
* First-rate technical and organisational skills: defect diagnosis, specification, contract admin, budgeting, digital reporting, and AutoCAD.
* Confidence managing priorities with a positive, solutions-oriented approach.
* Full driving licence and willingness to travel regionally
