We’re looking for a Payroll Manager who thrives in a people-focused environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional client service. At MHA, you’ll lead and develop a high-performing payroll team, manage a diverse portfolio of clients, and play a key role in driving operational excellence and business growth.
This role goes beyond payroll processing. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to clients, support strategic initiatives across the payroll function, and help create an environment where people can develop and succeed.
What We’re Looking For
* CIPP qualified or qualified by experience
* Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll operations within a bureau or accountancy practice environment
* Leading the day-to-day payroll operations for a diverse portfolio of clients
* Ensuring weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payrolls are processed accurately and efficiently to strict deadlines
* Reviewing payroll controls and processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement
* Using payroll data and reporting to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement
* Building strong relationships with clients, intermediaries, and external stakeholders, acting as a trusted payroll advisor
* Identifying opportunities to grow Payroll services and supporting business development initiatives across existing and prospective clients
* Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and industry developments, providing guidance and updates to both clients and colleagues
* Managing, mentoring, and developing junior team members, including delegation, quality review, coaching, appraisals, and performance management
* Supporting wider team operations including resource planning, billing, and client service delivery
