About the role
We’re looking for a Sustainability Graduate to join our Construction team based in London. The role offers 26 days annual leave and a 24/7 Wellbeing Support Programme. It is part of a structured 2‑year graduate development programme that leads to an assistant level role.
We are a leading UK national contractor delivering projects across the public and private sectors, including education, healthcare, defence, justice, and infrastructure.
Location & Logistics
Location: London (flexible to travel/relocate across the region). Starting Salary: £30,000 per annum. Pathway: Permanent, Full‑time 2‑year programme leading to an assistant level role with salary potential of approximately £38,000. Starting date: September 2026. This role does not offer a certificate of sponsorship.
Responsibilities
As a Sustainability Graduate, you will work across projects with the Social Value and Environmental teams. You will support Environmental Advisors and Social Value Coordinators in delivering targets across Kier Places projects, ensure environmental compliance through our Rio system, and analyse social value and environmental data.
Day‑to‑day duties
* Work with Environment Advisors and Social Value Coordinators to achieve agreed environmental and social sustainability targets during the project lifecycle.
* Contribute to the Places sustainability strategy.
* Liaise with subcontractors to gather documentation and data for environmental and social value.
* Upload environmental information and documentation onto Rio, ensuring legal compliance.
* Attend meetings with project teams and the Sustainability team.
* Assist in arranging and delivering engagement sessions, workshops, and events with local education, employability, and community partners.

Qualifications / What we’re looking for
* Graduated or expected to graduate in 2026, or within the past three years, with a degree in Environmental/Sustainability or a related field.
* Ability to handle data and use it to tell a story through verification and reporting.
* Committed to building and sustaining relationships at all levels.
* Flexible and willing to travel as required.
* Confidence in working with diverse teams and stakeholders.
* Team player with a willingness to support colleagues in environmental and social value delivery.
* Full UK driving licence.
