Lead Clinical Physiologist - GI Physiology

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Raigmore Hospital is the principal acute general hospital serving the population of NHS Highland. The catchment area is geographically the largest and most northerly of any Health Board in mainland Britain. In addition, tertiary services are provided to patients from NHS Western Isles and western parts of NHS Grampian, making the total catchment population approximately 400,000.

Raigmore is a modern, well‑equipped, general hospital, and its relative geographical isolation demands higher levels of services than in most hospitals of comparable size. The GI Physiology service is a single person service providing a wide range of upper and lower gastrointestinal investigations including standard oesophageal manometry, 24hr pH monitoring, combined pH/Impedance monitoring (adults and paediatrics) and hydrogen breath testing, anorectal manometry, RAIR, rectal sensation and balloon expulsion, PNTML testing, 3D EAUS, PTNS and biofeedback for a range of defaecatory disorders.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join our innovative and dedicated team and we are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated physiologist to continue to provide the existing services, but who is also eager to progress themselves and the department, through personal development, service innovation and/or research opportunities.

You should hold a BSc or STP training in Gastrointestinal Physiology; although an equivalent qualification along with suitable knowledge training and experience may be acceptable. You should be registered or eligible for registration with the HCPC, AHCS and/or RCCP.

Newly qualified candidates are encouraged to apply as further supervision and training could be provided to develop a suitable candidate into the post.

For an informal discussion please contact Peter Cook (Head of Medical Physics) on 01463 705231
