While previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is beneficial, it’s not essential — what truly matters is a patient, compassionate, and proactive approach. Strong communication and teamwork skills are key, alongside flexibility and reliability to step in at short notice and adapt to different classroom environments. The ideal candidate will be organised, capable of multitasking, and comfortable supporting both learning activities and basic administrative tasks. A willingness to learn, paired with basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills, will ensure you can thrive in this dynamic role and make a meaningful difference in the classroom.
✨ About the Role:
As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring continuity and quality of learning when permanent staff are unavailable. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Supporting teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive lessons across various subjects and year groups.
* Providing tailored assistance to students — whether working one-to-one or in small groups — to ensure they stay on track with their learning.
* Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting a respectful, nurturing classroom atmosphere.
* Setting up and tidying classrooms, ensuring they’re organized, safe, and inspiring places to learn.
* Supervising students during break times, lunchtimes, or school trips, ensuring safety and inclusion.
* Assisting with administrative tasks, such as preparing learning materials, photocopying, and writing tasks.
* Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) or those who may require additional help to engage fully in lessons.
* Promoting emotional well-being, offering encouragement and pastoral support to students when needed.
* Adapting quickly to different classes and year groups, familiarizing yourself with new routines and teaching styles.
* Communicating effectively with teaching staff to ensure a smooth handover and continuity in student learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
