We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated band 3 therapy assistant to support qualified physiotherapists and occupational therapists on the acute wards, including surgical, medical and potentially critical care settings.
The role involves supporting the implementation of rehabilitation treatment plans and interventions, gathering information from patients or families, following treatment plans under supervision, providing education and practice in activities of daily living and mobility, assisting with moving and handling of patients using appropriate equipment, and inputting information into patient records via the Trust's digital notes system.
You will work with a supportive team and be a valued member of the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Responsibilities
* Support qualified therapists with the implementation of rehabilitation treatment plans and interventions for patients.
* Gather information from patients or families, following treatment plans under supervision, providing education and practice in activities of daily living and mobility.
* Assist with moving and handling of patients using appropriate equipment.
* Input information into patient records via the Trust's digital notes system.
* Carry out specified interventions and programmes under the direct supervision of a qualified clinician.
* Report progress of patients during the implementation of planned interventions and programmes.
* Work with an individual or group in a variety of settings appropriate to the patient’s need.
* Respect the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of patients, contributing to a service sensitive to these needs.
* Ensure patient safety and dignity at all times, using relevant methods to manage patients with challenging behaviours.
* Utilise effective communication skills to ensure clinical advice and treatment programmes are delivered sensitively.
* Liaise with members of the multidisciplinary team following discussion with a qualified clinician.
* Ensure accurate, up‑to‑date clinical records are kept, ensuring their security and confidentiality at all times.
* Record and submit clinical activity data as required by the Trust in an accurate and timely manner.
* Be responsible for safe and competent use of equipment, including the provision of support, education and training to other staff, patients and carers as required.
* Be responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, monitoring and loan of equipment, maintaining its security at all times and keeping accurate records as required.
* Be responsible for ordering and stock control of materials and equipment as required.
* Support administrative and housekeeping duties as required.
