Position
Our Specialist Wheelchair Service is seeking a motivated Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our team. This role is offered on a full‑time basis (part‑time hours may be considered). The service operates Monday to Friday, supporting a great work‑life balance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for career development, particularly for Occupational Therapists or Physiotherapists interested in developing expertise in manual and electric wheelchair prescribing, posture and pressure care management, with full support and on‑the‑job training from our experienced team. Based at our newly renovated site in Maidenhead, we provide specialist wheelchair services across East Berkshire. We also support patients in South Buckinghamshire with 6 contracted GP surgeries and regularly travel throughout the region to deliver care.
Responsibilities
* Carry out appropriate seating assessments, including specialist seating, pressure mapping and prescribe appropriate equipment (manual / powered wheelchairs and supportive equipment).
* Conduct assessments either in clinic, patients’ home, school or workplace; ensure all required assessment forms and patient records are updated and maintained in line with organisational governance and protocols.
* Research equipment in terms of suitability specific to patient needs whilst providing value for money.
* Work with patients, relatives and carers within a multi‑disciplinary team and in partnership with professionals in health, social care, education and charities, as well as with specialist providers and technicians.
* Ensure timeliness of provision to prevent delays in hospital discharge and work towards enabling patient wellbeing and independence.
Qualifications & Experience
* Relevant clinical experience across both inpatient and outpatient settings, including experience working with physically disabled patients.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across multiple sites.
