Summary
We are looking for an experienced Welfare Officer to join our team in North West London. Have you been working in a hands on animal role eg in rescue, welfare, veterinary for at least three years and are looking for your next career move?
This role is vital in supporting our mission to rescue animals and find them loving homes. It is hugely rewarding and you will see the difference you make to many animals' lives. As well as a passion for animals, you will need to be very self motivated, able to manage your own daily workload and prioritise effectively. You should be able to work alone and have an excellent aptitude for dealing with people as well as animals. You will be joining an experienced and busy team, so you will need to be a strong team player and excellent team communicator. You need to enjoy administrative activities, as around 50% of the role will be desk based. You will need to be physically fit and confident in dealing with domestic and feral cats, rabbits and small furries. Please note that we do not deal with dogs.
Responsibilities
* Care for and assess the welfare needs of animals in our care - cats, rabbits and small furries - please note we do not deal with dogs
* Trap, neuter and release feral and stray cats
* Arrange and carry out vet trips
* Carry out home visits for members of public who need assistance with their pets
* Collaborate with other organizations for animal rescue efforts
* Train and supervise volunteers involved in animal care
* Maintain accurate records of animal intake and outcomes
* Assess adoption applications and arrange suitable new homes
Qualifications and experience
* At least three years experience working in animal welfare or a related field - essential
* Animal care qualification - desirable
* Excellent administrative skills with attention to detail - essential
* Experience in TNR activities - desirable
* A full manual driving licence, held for at least two years - essential
* Passion for animal welfare and community engagement
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Salary: starting from £25-30,000 depending on experience FTE
Working hours: Full time 40 hours, five consecutive days per week including one set day at the weekened (either Saturday or Sunday), 8.30am-5pm or part time 32 hours, four consecutive days per week including one set day at the weekened (either Saturday or Sunday) 8.30am-5pm
