Terms and Conditions apply About the Role: As our Case Progression Officer, you will provide strategic leadership, practice oversight, and expert challenge across Children’s Services in relation to the Public Law Outline (PLO) and care proceedings. You will help ensure cases progress in a timely, legally robust, and child-centred way, working closely with social workers, managers, Legal Services, CAFCASS, and the Courts. Key aspects of the role include: Maintaining an overview of all pre-proceedings (PLO) and care proceedings cases, identifying delay and driving timely progression. Providing expert advice, coaching, and mentoring to strengthen the quality of court work across the service. Quality assuring statements, court reports, and care plans. Leading the development of learning and development programmes to improve court readiness and legal literacy. Chairing tracking meetings and coordinating audits, data analysis, and performance reporting. Leading strategic improvement activity to embed best practice and ensure compliance with statutory requirements. Representing the service at multi-agency forums, court user groups, and governance boards. You will need: Professional Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration. At least five years’ post-qualifying experience, with substantial experience in court work. Strong knowledge of the Public Law Outline, legislation, and best practice. Confidence in making autonomous professional decisions and offering expert advice. Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. Experience of quality assuring court-related work and supporting others to improve. Ability to build effective internal and external partnerships, including with Legal Services and the Courts.
