Position Overview
The Project Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and tracking project schedules to ensure successful and timely delivery of project objectives. Working closely with project managers and cross-functional teams, the Project Planner provides clear visibility of project progress, risks, and forecasts while ensuring that schedule plans align with scope, cost, and resource requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule Planning & Development
* Prepare, develop, and maintain detailed project schedules.
* Break down project scope into work packages and activities with appropriate logical sequencing.
* Establish baseline schedules and obtain approval from project leadership.
* Integrate schedule input from engineering, procurement, construction, operations, and other stakeholders.
Monitoring & Control
* Track progress and update schedules regularly based on actual performance.
* Perform critical path analysis to identify potential delays or impacts.
* Provide schedule forecasts and support recovery planning where required.
* Ensure that project milestones and deliverables are clearly defined and monitored.
Reporting & Communication
* Produce weekly and monthly schedule reports, dashboards, and KPIs.
* Present schedule updates, trends, and risks to project managers and senior management.
* Facilitate planning and review meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
* Maintain clear communication and alignment across all project functions.
Risk & Change Management
* Identify schedule risks and provide impact assessments.
* Support change control processes, including time-impact analysis for variations and delays.
* Assist in developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
* Ensure compliance with project governance and planning standards.
Project Controls Integration
* Collaborate with cost control, risk management, and resource planning teams.
* Ensure schedule data aligns with cost estimates, budgets, and resource loading.
* Maintain accurate WBS structures, coding, and data integrity within planning tools.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or related field.
* 2–7+ years of experience in project planning or project controls (depending on role level).
* Proficiency with scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalents).
* Strong understanding of project management methodologies and lifecycle processes.
* Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
* Experience in Construction and Engineering
* Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).
* Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
* Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with reporting tools (Power BI, dashboards).
