Role details
* Contract: 12 months
* Pay Rate: £29-£34 per hour
* Hours: 08:30-16:45 Monday-Thursday, 08:30-16:15 Friday
* On-site 5 days a week at Peterborough
Job Purpose
The successful candidate will lead allocated projects to ensure they are delivered on time, to cost, and to the required quality. This involves managing projects from the concept stage through all program stages. You will be responsible for developing relationships with key team members to motivate and drive projects forward, as well as producing timely reports on project progress for the Senior Leadership Team.
Key Job Duties
* Management and accountability for a portfolio of projects.
* Develop and produce program and/or project management schedules using Microsoft Project.
* Monitor project progress and performance and conduct regular stakeholder reporting.
* Management of project/programme budgets and program cost tracking.
* Utilise proven risk management experience and maintain risk registers, issue logs, and scope change requests.
* Resource management, including providing input for staffing and creating accurate resource-loaded project schedules.
* Work with partners, monitor progress, and attend business meetings to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
* Facilitate projects, lead chartering sessions, and develop/validate network diagrams.
* Mentor and coach other project leaders in project management.
* Learn and use the project accounting systems to produce project-related financial reports.
* Monitor and discuss problems, recommend solutions, and ensure steps are in place to meet schedules.
Essential Background/Experience
* A college or university degree, OR 3-5 years of progressively related experience in the project management field.
* Proven experience with project management concepts, including project charters, scheduling, planning projects, and successful completion experience.
* Provide leadership in the development and updates of program and project management schedules.
* Strong project management skills, team leadership skills, and strong analytical and organisational skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, necessary to deal with sensitive issues or influence others.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
Desirable Background/Experience
* Prince 2/PMP or equivalent qualification.
* Project resource loading/portfolio resource management experience.
* Project/portfolio cost management experience.
* Ability to lead and motivate people, encourage teamwork, and communicate effectively with senior management.
* Extensive knowledge of project management software (MS Project experience desirable).
* Good Excel skills are vital (complex formulas, linking multiple worksheets, pivot tables, graphs).
