Equans is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team in Blackburn at the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities
* The post holder will have the required maintenance skills to ensure the safe and continuous operation of the site, working within the response team and reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor and Mechanical Manager.
* Carry out proactive maintenance, repairs and inspection of building services, fabric, fixtures and fittings, in accordance with relevant standards, procedures and legislation.
* The hours for this role are 40 hours per week.
* Represent Equans in a respectful and professional manner.
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance PPM on building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training.
* Respond promptly to ad hoc breakdown requests as identified by the help desk, supervisor or manager, or as required by the site contract.
* Assist with installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works.
* Assist with systematic fault finding in a logical and safe manner on malfunctioning equipment.
* Carry out duties in accordance with safe working practices within statutory and Company guidelines.
* Safely operate all types of access equipment, hand and power tools in line with health and safety and manufacturers guidelines.
* Ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment and adherence to health and safety and infection control procedures.
* Maintain records as appropriate, whether written or electronic.
* Be willing to assist and work flexibly with other colleagues and contractor staff.
* Coordinate liaison with Wards and Departments to minimise disruption while carrying out work.
* Undertake training to learn and develop the skills required to deliver the service.
* Carry out risk assessments on-site as instructed by supervisor/manager.
* Collaborate with partners and colleagues to deliver a customer-focused service.
* Use initiative to make appropriate decisions including when working out of hours.
* Complete all required job cards and work-related paperwork to the required standard, whether electronic or hard copy.
* Complete work within the allocated timeframes.
* Carry out any other tasks commensurate with the role.
Impact
The Maintenance Assistant contributes to the safe and efficient operation of the estate and engineering systems, supporting the delivery of healthcare and statutory obligations while providing an excellent service to customers.
Complexity
The Maintenance Assistant will undertake engineering and maintenance activities for which they are trained and competent. An Estates management team on site can provide specialised technical advice and facilitate isolations as needed for certain works.
Qualifications or Required Experience
* Previously worked within a general maintenance environment.
* Previously worked within a customer-facing role.
* Experience in a healthcare environment is desirable.
* Experience of computer-based task monitoring systems CAFM is desirable.
* Worked on Mechanical Systems, DHW, LPHW, CHW is desirable.
* Electrical qualifications are desirable.
