We’re committed to fostering an environment for every teammate that’s welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunity for professional growth. This role will provide a recently graduated engineer with the opportunity to work across an Engineering Department which covers a range of disciplines. Our department spans SEIT (Systems Engineering, Integration & Test), Training Systems Engineering, Engineering Strategy Development & Capability Development projects (including R&D), Experimentation and Analysis, Product Lifecycle Management and Engineering Business Operations.
We put an emphasis on learning in the workplace with live projects, working across multiple teams and supported by theoretical learning and help from colleagues and the Early Careers team.
As a new graduate you will have the opportunity to work alongside our technical leads across some of the following areas (dependent on business needs at the time):
Systems Engineering. This team collaborates across the full breadth of the engineering functions within BDUK to develop products, systems and services through their lifecycle. Here you will collaborate with multiple functions inside and outside of Engineering on programme delivery and to support business development activities.
Training Systems Engineering. This area supports innovative training solutions to ensure that customers are correctly trained to operate and maintain a range of Boeing aircraft and systems. This area uses a range of sophisticated training equipment and tools, applies logic and engineering best practice to support the design of innovative training solutions, including synthetic training equipment (simulators) and courseware.
Engineering Strategy Development and Capability Development. This team delivers internally funded R&D projects, develops enablers for BDUK Engineering (e.g. Digital Engineering capabilities) and development of Engineering Strategy to meet our future business aspirations.
Experimentation and Analysis. Within the E&A team, you will gain exposure to a modelling, simulation and analysis facility. This area uses advanced technologies and Operations Analysis methodology to support customers' needs to explore and understand requirements and solve problems in both the defence and security domains, and across BDUK programmes.
The PLM team is responsible for developing and delivering an integrated capability (e.g. tools, processes, configuration management & data management) to enable us to deliver assured products and services across programmes and new business opportunities.
Engineering Business Operations. Engineering Business Operations is essential to the running of a health engineering function. They analyse business data to track how the Engineering Function is performing against business metrics and are responsible for pulling together the reporting required in the UK and the US. They also run business level initiatives for BDUK Engineering.
