How You'll Make a Difference
Assisting the Workshop Manager in the day-to-day management of the Workshop Team, you are responsible for ensuring resources are utilised effectively and that key performance is met.
The team carry out mechanical and electrical vehicle inspections, maintenance and repair work to council vehicles, MOT test preparations, defect identification and routine servicing and inspections.
What You Will Be Doing
1. Supervise staff daily, including monitoring absence, conducting appraisals, training, recruitment, and deputising for the Workshop Manager as needed.
2. Allocate staff and resources effectively to meet service requirements and standards.
3. Use your technical expertise to analyze situations, arrange for work within quality and legislative guidelines, monitor and report on service standards, and produce progress reports.
4. Resolve technical issues, respond to queries and complaints, and ensure strong service delivery with a customer focus.
5. Ensure safe working systems are followed, conduct risk assessments, enforce regulations, and record relevant data.
6. Communicate with external suppliers and contractors to ensure compliance and value for money.
What We Need From You
1. Hold a Level 3 Certificate of Professional Competence in National Passenger Transport and National Road Haulage or be working towards it.
2. Hold an NVQ Level 3 in vehicle maintenance and repair, or City and Guilds Level 1, 2, and 3, and an HGV vocational Licence.
3. Be a qualified MOT tester with experience in a VOSA-registered test facility.
4. Have up-to-date knowledge of legislative and technical issues, safety procedures, budget monitoring, and resource management.
5. Proven experience in advising, supervising, motivating, and developing a team, including work allocation and staff management.
6. Ability to identify problems, propose solutions, and provide technical support and documentation.

1. Participate in out-of-hours emergency standby arrangements when required.
