Empowering Learning is delighted to be supporting a welcoming and community-focused primary school in Hyde in their search for an experienced Year 6 Teacher to join them from January through to July 2026. This is a full-time teaching role covering the second half of the academic year and supporting pupils through their final months in primary school, including SATs preparation.
About the Role
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Year 6 class, delivering a broad and engaging curriculum that supports both academic progress and pupils' wellbeing. You will work closely with the SLT, Year 6 team, and support staff to ensure pupils are fully prepared for end-of-KS2 assessments while maintaining a balanced, positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Teach a well-structured and sequenced Year 6 curriculum aligned with school policies.
Prepare pupils effectively for KS2 SATs through targeted teaching, assessment and intervention.
Use ongoing assessment to inform planning and track pupil progress.
Create a supportive classroom culture that promotes resilience, independence, and high expectations.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and support staff to ensure every child thrives.
Contribute fully to the wider life of the school and uphold its values and ethos.
The School is Looking For
A committed and reflective practitioner with experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2.
Strong knowledge of the Year 6 curriculum and experience with SATs preparation (desirable but not essential).
Someone who can build positive relationships with pupils and foster a calm, purposeful learning environment.
A teacher with excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
