We are seeking Alternative Provision Support Staff to work across Key Stage 1-2 and Key Stage 3 pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in AP settings across North Lincolnshire. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your sports expertise into education, engaging children while supporting their learning and wellbeing. What You'll Be Doing As part of our AP support team, you will: Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs. Incorporate sport, physical activity, and coaching techniques to boost engagement, motivation, and emotional regulation. Support behaviour and wellbeing using trauma-informed, restorative, and nurturing approaches. Assist in classroom learning and alternative education activities, adapting tasks and celebrating progress. Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and AP coordinators to deliver tailored support. Champion safeguarding and wellbeing, prioritising safety and emotional health of pupils. What We're Looking For We are seeking individuals who are: Passionate about supporting children in AP settings through both education and sport Calm, patient, and able to build trusting relationships with pupils who may face challenging behaviours Resilient and positive under pressure Skilled at working as part of a team Committed to inclusion and helping every child achieve their potential Essential Skills and Experience Background in sports, coaching, or physical education Experience supporting children in education, AP settings, youth work, or community sports programs Understanding of SEMH and additional needs in children Ability to de-escalate challenging behaviour using calm, positive strategies Awareness of safeguarding and child protection procedures Desirable (but not essential) Qualifications in Teaching and Learning Support, Childcare, Youth Work, or Mental Health Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or other de-escalation techniques Experience supporting children with EHCPs or individual behaviour plans This Role is Perfect If You: Have a sports or coaching background and want to apply it in AP education Are excited to support children across multiple AP settings Believe in the power of physical activity to support emotional wellbeing and learning Want to see children gain confidence, resilience, and new skills every day What We Offer Work in Alternative Provision settings across North Lincolnshire with a strong focus on SEMH support Ongoing CPD in SEMH, trauma-informed practice, and behaviour management A supportive and collaborative team environment The opportunity to positively impact children's lives every day Ready to Help Build Something Special?
