The Ministry of Defence Guard Service (MGS) provides high quality security services at over 170 MOD sites across the United Kingdom. The MGS has guarded the Defence Estate for over 30 years including high profile locations such as MOD Main Building in London, Whitehall and His Majestys Naval Bases at Portsmouth, Devonport, and the Clyde. We provide access control, military working dogs, control room operations and other security services. We play a vital role supporting the Defence Mission and work to protect the Defence estate and personnel from crime, terrorism, espionage, and sabotage threats. The MGS has over 2,700 employees and is part of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO). The Project Support Officer enables the smooth running of the pipeline by supporting the project manager through the operation of project management processes, and the co-ordination of business management actions and activities on their behalf. Key responsibilities: Implement and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling. Establish and maintain project controls, keeping the project manager aware of the project statuses. Prepare project performance reports, presenting statistics and researching new information. Ensure organisational tasks are carried out efficiently. Manage and monitor compliance of the project with Departmental Security, Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Business Continuity and Business Planning. Manage professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and act as lead point of contact for some external parties. Draft and sign-off correspondence. Monitor project spend and contribute to the compilation of budgets and the development of the business case. Manage potential risk areas, escalating as appropriate. Responsible for covering a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the Project/Programme objectives as required. Undertake additional duties or corporate responsibilities as required, contributing to cross-cutting initiatives or wider organisational priorities in support of the Head Office function. Operate with autonomy, demonstrating initiative and self-direction to drive progress and overcome challenges. Experience of working effectively with others including collaborating as part of a team and building positive relationships with colleagues or stakeholders. Experience of using IT tools such as Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar software to organise, analyse, and present information effectively.
