Overview Of The Role

This is an opportunity for an experienced, qualified and enthusiastic project management professional to join our Transport and Mobility Solutions (TMS) team supporting with the delivery of Highway projects for predominantly contractor clients across the UK. As the Project Manager, you will be part of the project senior leadership team with a primary focus on overall technical quality, safety, risk, change control, programme, resource allocation and commercial performance. You will report to the Project Director and work alongside a Design Manager. You will develop and deliver Highway projects from inception to handover and completion. The role includes managing Design and Build or contractor‑led projects from tendering and contract negotiation and administration to detailed design and construction site services, and may include other highway projects as required.


Responsibilities

* Lead the wider project team, delivering Highway projects from inception to handover and completion.
* Ensure overall technical quality, safety, risk, change control, programme, resource allocation and commercial performance meet project and client expectations.
* Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams and liaise closely with clients, project sponsors and key stakeholders.
* Prepare and manage tender documents, reports and Budget, monitor cost and schedule, and manage Health and Safety and Quality Assurance aspects.
* Provide technical leadership and contribute to the project team’s success in a Design and Build environment.


Candidate specification


Essential

* Significant experience of working on highway design and build or contractor‑led design projects in a project management or other management role.
* Attained chartership with a recognised engineering or project management institution.
* Demonstrated experience establishing and leading the project team, ensuring overall success per company directives and contractual arrangements, including NEC.
* Experience establishing tender budgets and prices, monitoring budgets throughout delivery, resolving cost overruns, identifying cost reduction measures, and managing project capital and invoicing.
* Acted as principal point of contact with the client’s Design and Engineering manager and the client’s commercial and procurement teams for all commercial and contractual aspects.
* Demonstrated understanding of the Designer’s obligations under the CDM Regs.
* Flexible to travel to client sites or alternative offices when required, for extended periods of time.


Desirable

* Degree in Civil Engineering (or a related subject).
* Project Management Qualification or working towards such a qualification.
* Working knowledge of risk management in project delivery.
* Ideally experience managing projects throughout its lifecycle.
