Job Overview
The International Standards Group (ISG) is looking for a talented and motivated professional to lead the development of global guidance and communications relating to IFRS Accounting Standards and sustainability reporting standards. This director-level role reports to the Head of Marketing and Communications, manages a growing communications team, and ensures high‑quality strategic campaigns.
Role & Responsibilities
* Oversee day‑to‑day operations of a growing communications team, ensuring client expectations are met through robust processes, timely delivery of campaigns, publications, and communications of high quality.
* Act as the Head of Comms’ delegate where needed.
* Execute ISG’s communications strategy, shape, promote, and protect the KPMG brand, publishing practical application guidance on IFRS Accounting Standards, IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, and European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
* Collaborate with subject‑matter experts across KPMG International (KPMGI) and Member Firms, participating in technical reporting, accounting, auditing, and assurance discussions to plan, draft and review materials.
* Continuously monitor publication processes and controls to ensure efficiency, fit for purpose, and technological harnessing.
* Develop and publish materials on IFRS Accounting Standards, IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, ESRS, and related audit and assurance matters.
* Demystify technical content by drafting clear, visual messaging and delivering insights across multiple media (long‑form publications, podcasts, blogs, digital articles, videos, animations, and social media).
Leadership & Management
* Shape and execute the communications strategy, ensuring agile delivery of the right messages to the right audiences.
* Plan and deploy cross‑functional go‑to‑market campaigns (proactive and reactive) in response to reporting changes and emerging issues.
* Support the rollout of content and knowledge strategies to digitise KPMG’s content.
* Hold day‑to‑day responsibility and accountability for a communications team of eight professionals.
* Coach, mentor, and support career development for team members.
* Champion IDSE and embed its principles in team processes and outputs.
* Make resource‑planning decisions, ensuring the team has the appropriate mix of skills to deliver high‑volume quality outputs.
* Stay informed on developments in reporting, accounting, auditing, and assurance, including projects within ISG and KPMGI.
Stakeholder Interaction & Challenges
* Act as liaison between ISG, KPMGI, and member‑firm leadership teams, coordinating responses to key issues.
* Consult and mobilise SMEs across advisory and sustainability reporting to capture practical guidance.
Impact, Risk, Accountability & Governance
* Provide a high‑profile global role influencing professional practice across KPMG’s network.
* Ensure deliverables are technically accurate, user‑focused, and timely to support global consistency.
* Drive timely delivery and high standards, ensuring outputs meet ISQM1, house style, brand, and licensing agreements.
* Maintain a continuous improvement mindset, using data and analytics to measure impact and adjust strategies.
The Person – Essential Experience
Technical Skills and Qualifications
* Relevant professional qualification – ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks and IFRS Accounting Standards.
Non‑technical Skills
* Excellent spoken and written English.
* Strong leadership, organisational, and project‑management skills, with a commitment to quality and improvement.
* Clear communication abilities; able to simplify complex ideas and create visual representations.
* Strategic mindset with attention to detail, ambition and enthusiasm.
* Adaptive to change, solution‑oriented, and skilled at stakeholder management, influence and persuasion.
Experience Relevant to the Role
* Experience leading a team.
* Technical experience (e.g., DPP, accounting advisory, audit support) helpful but not required.
* Proven handling of technical accounting, sustainability reporting, and/or auditing matters.
* Experience working with and supporting leadership.
* Experience preparing internal and/or external communications and materials.
