About the role
The Senior Practitioner – Pods' main responsibility is to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people, considering their race, culture, religion, and linguistic background. They will manage an agreed caseload of children and young people, ensuring compliance with casework objectives, statutory, and departmental policies, maintaining high professional standards, including in complex cases.
The Senior Practitioner will undertake direct social work responsibilities as an allocated worker, investigating concerns regarding a child's safety or wellbeing, assessing risks and protective factors, and deciding on appropriate actions. They will also work long-term with families to meet needs and improve outcomes, prepare reports for Court, support and prepare colleagues for Court processes, and provide casework consultation. Supervision of students, trainees, less experienced staff, or volunteers may also be part of the role.
Qualifications
* Degree level education with a relevant professional qualification in social work.
* Active Social Work England registration and evidence of ongoing professional development.
Skills and experience
* Leadership experience, including line management, performance, and change management.
* Knowledge of relevant theories informing practice.
* Experience building partnerships and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, advocating for clients.
* Proficiency in using data and evidence for decision-making.
* Experience in record-keeping and producing reports and presentations.
* Knowledge of statutory legislation like the Children’s Act and related policies.
* Commitment to personal and team development.
* Experience addressing equality and diversity issues.
