Band 6 – Community Specialist Podiatrist
Full or part time roles available with flexible working options.
Provide high‑risk wound care, diabetic foot care and opportunistic musculoskeletal and nail surgery clinics across the Borough of Bromley.
Responsibilities include assessment, treatment planning, patient education, and allied‑health coordination.
Main Duties of the Job
• Provide a community‑focused clinical caseload with foot care and advice to patients with “at risk” feet.
• Deliver a range of podiatry treatments including wound care, risk and biomechanical interventions.
• Conduct community visits, independent travel across Bromley, and coordinate with NHS partners – King’s College and Princess Royal Hospital.
• Keep up with best practice and showcase Bromley Healthcare values in day‑to‑day service.
• Participate in CPD activities, clinical supervision and training, with an enhanced training budget.
• Liaise with nursing staff for visit arrangements and formulate internal/external treatment plans.
• Escalate concerns to MDFT and manage scope of practice responsibly.
Registration with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) is essential.

Experience
* Post‑graduate experience treating a high‑risk caseload including wound care and willingness to undertake specialist training.
* Post‑graduate experience in full patient assessment (medical history, vascular, neuropathic) and formulating diagnosis & treatment plans.
* Experience with minor surgical procedures, biomechanics (diagnosis, orthoses prescription and evaluation), and muscle‑balancing programmes.
* Local anaesthesia injection skill, including safe dose calculation.
* Experience treating diabetic and ischaemic foot ulceration.
* Involvement in health education and use of specialist diagnostic & therapeutic equipment (doppler ultrasound, neurosthesiometer, gait analysis).
* Evidence of audit and research/evaluation contribution.
* Specialist area experience, e.g. Podiatric Surgery, Diabetes, R.A.
* Training in clinical coaching.
Skills
* Ability to diagnose, construct, document, implement and evaluate care plans holistically.
* Organisational skills managing own caseload with a proportion of high‑risk patients.
* Strong verbal and written communication for patients of all ages and other healthcare professionals.
* Proficiency with specialist diagnostic & therapeutic equipment.
* Hand‑eye coordination, dexterity and manipulation.
* Full UK driver’s licence and access to a vehicle for business purposes.
* Knowledge of MSK and wound care.
* Evidence of audit and research contribution.
Qualifications
* Podiatry Diploma / Degree
* Commitment to continuous development of clinical skills and professional knowledge.
* Awareness of current changes within the NHS.
* Completion of a Diabetic Foot Module.
* IRMER certificate.
* Pharmacy, Operation, and Medicines (POMs) certificate.
* Evidence of CPD portfolio demonstrating knowledge base.
