Heavy Plant Fitter
Location: Knowsley, Merseyside
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £24.00 – £26.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Overtime Rate: £32.00 per hour
Interaction Recruitment is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established client for an experienced Heavy Plant Fitter based in Knowsley.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and growing operation maintaining a range of heavy plant and wash plant machinery within a fast-paced industrial environment.
Working Hours
1. 47.5 hours per week
2. Monday to Friday: 07:00 – 17:00
3. Saturdays: 07:00 – 12:00 when required
4. Additional overtime available for maintenance and emergency repairs

The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance, servicing, and reactive repairs on a variety of heavy plant machinery and wash plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation across the site.
This is a hands-on role involving both workshop and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
11. Carry out maintenance and repairs on excavators, loading shovels, crushers, screeners, and wash plant equipment
12. Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
13. Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime
14. Inspect and maintain aggregate wash plant systems
15. Monitor plant performance and maintain operational efficiency
16. Complete service records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation accurately
17. Work closely with plant operators, supervisors, and management
18. Maintain high standards of health & safety at all times
19. Ensure workshop cleanliness and organisation
20. Assist with stock control and ordering of spare parts
Candidate Requirements
21. Proven experience as a Heavy Plant Fitter or similar role
22. Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
23. Experience working on heavy plant machinery in an industrial environment
24. Previous wash plant maintenance experience highly desirable
25. Good understanding of health & safety procedures
26. Basic computer literacy for maintenance reporting
27. Reliable, motivated, and able to work independently or within a team
28. Flexible approach to overtime and weekend work
29. Able to commute to the Knowsley area
