We are seeking a 9-12 months Locum GP to cover 6 sessions per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. The ideal candidate will be proactive, enthusiastic, and willing to collaborate within an established clinical team. Responsibilities include covering duty doctor and on-call rotas on a fair share basis. An attractive reimbursement is offered for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
Work Schedule:
Monday: 2 sessions, Tuesday: 2 sessions, Wednesday: 2 sessions.
Working hours: Start at 08:30, finish at 17:00 (last appointment at 16:30).
Normal Morning Surgery:
Mix of 16 telephone and face-to-face appointments (8:30-11:30), with a 20-minute statutory break, followed by admin time (50 mins, 11:50-12:40) and visits (shared, 13:00-14:00). Admin time resumes (60 mins, 14:00-15:00).
Normal Afternoon Surgery:
Mix of 10 telephone and face-to-face appointments (15:00-16:40), with admin time (20 mins, 16:40-17:00). Total hours worked: approximately 8 hours and 10 minutes.
Duty Doctor Role
The Duty Doctor covers sessions from 08:30-13:00 (AM), 13:00-18:00 (PM), or full day (08:30-18:00). Responsibilities include managing face-to-face and telephone appointments, nursing queries, urgent overflow cases, reviewing urgent results, and handling administrative requests when the usual GP is unavailable. The Duty Doctor is the first point of contact for urgent medical advice and signs off all outstanding ETP items electronically.

Job Responsibilities
Each session involves administrative work based on caseload, with 16 face-to-face or telephone appointments in the morning and 10 in the afternoon. The role may include Duty Doctor and on-call sessions on a fair share basis. Please note that the contract does not include sick pay, holiday pay, bank holiday pay, study leave, or national insurance contributions. No payment is made for sessions not worked, and up to four weeks of unpaid leave is permitted during the contract with six weeks' notice required.

Qualifications
* Membership with an indemnity defence organization
* Recent (within 12 months) enhanced DBS check
* GMC registration without restrictions
* Inclusion on a performers list
* Proof of adult and child safeguarding training (Level 3) within last 36 months
* Proof of Basic Life Support training within last 12 months
Additional Requirements
This position is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975. Payment is processed via monthly invoice submission. The agreement is subject to a four-week notice period from either party.
