A supportive and well-resourced secondary provision unit in Wythenshawe is seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This is a rewarding role ideal for candidates with experience in education, care or youth support, or for graduates aiming to build experience before pursuing further training.
* Provide one-to-one and small group support for students aged 11-16 with SEMH needs
* Build strong, trusting relationships to help pupils engage in learning and school life
* Assist in delivering a broad curriculum while supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management
* Support students to overcome barriers to learning through a trauma-informed approach
* Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral leads and external agencies
* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN or challenging behaviour
* A calm, empathetic and professional approach to support and behaviour management
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
* A background in Psychology, Youth Work, Social Care or Education is advantageous
* Team Teach or de-escalation training is beneficial but not essential (training can be provided)
* Start date: September 2025
* Contract: Full-time, term-time only (Monday to Friday)
* Location: Wythenshawe, Manchester
* Pay: £89-110 per day (based on experience and qualifications)
* Compliance: Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply), references and right to work in the UK required
