Shop Volunteer (Communications & Marketing - Penarth)
Your local British Red Cross shop has a variety of activities available for volunteers to support us in. From sorting stock & preparing donated items for sale to providing great customer service to our donors and customers - we have something to suit most people’s interests. Our shop is a great place to learn new skills and share existing ones.
We are looking for Communications & Marketing volunteers to help promote our shop.
Are you a vibrant, confident communicator with a passion for social media and blogging? Can you help us grow our online presence? From in-store events to engaging with the wider second‑hand community, this role will give you an opportunity to expand your communications and marketing skills while spreading the power of kindness.
No experience is needed but communication skills and an understanding and interest in social media is desirable. Full training will be provided.
* Drafting original and engaging content for our various communication channels.
* Visiting shop(s) to find inspiration, capture stories and take photos and videos.
* Supporting at events and reporting back on what you find.
There is no minimum commitment or fixed hours; we only ask that we agree on hours you are confident you can attend and that you let us know where these hours may change.
When can I volunteer?
A few hours during the week or weekend, as agreed with the shop manager.

We take an individual approach to ensuring your safety. We may ask you to complete a simple risk assessment and will also have a conversation with you to discuss and identify any adjustments you may need.
As we take great care to ensure all volunteers are safe and supported, there may be some locations where we won’t be able to host 15‑17 year olds. Please get in touch so that we can help you find a suitable volunteering opportunity.
