Senior Scrum Master – Barclays
Join Barclays as a Senior Scrum Master within the Customer Care Business Portfolio. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in driving successful delivery of Device‑related improvements across four feature teams, ensuring that all releases are effectively coordinated, integrated and deployed to customers without impacting scheduling or service continuity.
Purpose of the role
Facilitate and support Agile teams by ensuring they follow Scrum principles, remove obstacles, enhance collaboration, and ensure smooth communication so teams can focus on delivering high‑quality iterative results. Facilitate Scrum events, promote continuous improvement and act as a bridge between the team and external stakeholders.
Accountabilities
* Facilitate events and keep them positive, productive and within timebox.
* Support iteration execution: maintain backlog refinement and iterative stakeholder feedback.
* Optimise flow by removing conflict and using metrics to make work visible.
* Mitigate risks: identify and escalate risks to remove impediments.
* Build high‑performing teams: coach, foster collaboration and drive continuous improvement.
* Stakeholder management: coordinate with business, product and vendors to build trust.
* Governance and reporting: ensure data quality and represent at governance forums.
Qualifications & Experience
* Advanced facilitation skills for Scrum events and workshops with distributed/offshore teams.
* Experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies within agreed timeboxes.
* Strong knowledge of Agile delivery tools (backlog management, sprint reporting, dependency tracking).
* Proven experience in scaled or multi‑team Agile environments (e.g., SAFe, large programmes).
* Use of metrics, continuous improvement frameworks, empirical data to drive performance.
* Optimise delivery flow through effective dependency and conflict management.
* Risk, issue, and dependency management with appropriate escalation.
* Effective stakeholder engagement, including senior stakeholders and governance forums.
Highly Valued Skills
* Leadership and coaching capability, supporting team development and improving Agile maturity.
* Strong understanding of change and scope management to take corrective action when delivery deviates from plan.
* Relevant Scrum Master certification(s).
* Experience applying Agile methodologies beyond Scrum (e.g., Kanban).
Location
The successful candidate will be based in Knutsford (Radbroke Hall).
