Internal Bookkeeper Location: Waltham Abbey Salary: £30,000 - £60,000 DOE Hours: 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm, Monday to Friday
Our client, a fast-growing specialist in bespoke joinery and interior fit-out solutions for residential and commercial projects, is seeking an experienced Internal Bookkeeper to join their expanding team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional with a background in construction accounting to play a key role in managing and improving internal financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports.
Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and payments.
Monitor project costs and budgets, identifying variances and potential financial risks.
Track and manage labour costs across projects, ensuring alignment with project budgets and identifying any discrepancies or overspending.
Process payroll and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations, including VAT and CIS (Construction Industry Scheme).
Support financial forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
Conduct bank reconciliations and oversee daily financial operations.
Enter day-to-day transactions into Xero accounting software.
Assist in improving accounting processes and strengthening internal financial controls.
Requirements:
ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualification (or working towards).
Proven accounting experience, ideally within the construction industry.
Strong understanding of UK accounting standards.
Solid knowledge of VAT and CIS regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks, & advanced Excel skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication skills & the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
