Randstad Student Support is recruiting for Specialist:one:to:one Study Skills Support Workers to work with students with autism spectrum conditions (ASC) studying at universities within the Stoke-on-Trent area.
The role is set to begin at the start of the new academic year (from 1st September 2025) and is a hybrid role. All successful candidates must be able to travel to the local university or college and offer both in-person and online sessions flexibly to meet student preferences.
As a Specialist:one:to:one Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide learning support and academic guidance. This includes creating an individual learning plan tailored to the students' needs and encouraging independence.
You will support students to:
* Develop independence
* Build on strengths and learning strategies
* Create strategies around organisation and time management
* Develop action plans to stay on track with studies
* Enhance research skills by using a variety of sources
* Identify appropriate sources and correctly use references
* Improve comprehension skills in reading and writing

You are expected to act professionally and maintain confidentiality at all times, sharing relevant information with Randstad to ensure the best support for your students.
Requirements for the Role
This is a specialist role requiring the correct qualifications and training. All students supported are funded by the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA), so candidates must adhere to the qualification framework set by the DfE.
Candidates must be qualified to undergraduate degree level (minimum level 6), possess a teaching qualification, and have extensive training in adult autism.
Extensive Training May Include
* 6 National Autistic Society Modules (non-medical helper package)
OR
* The Optimum Training Course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education: Recognising and addressing barriers through Non-Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies.
Desirable Skills
* Experience working with autistic clients
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to help students build on their strengths while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
* Punctuality and reliability
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to manage a caseload of students
