Role Overview
The role is positioned in the Global Engineering, Digital & Automation team which provides Capital Project delivery support to our manufacturing sites including distillation, brewing, spirits and beer packaging and maturation facilities. This role will support Diageo’s Digital Supply Chain Smart Manufacturing initiative by implementing operational technology control system modifications, initially at our Packaging facility Shieldhall, Glasgow.
Engineering Capabilities Required
* Development of requirement specifications in collaboration with other internal teams such as Operations.
* Knowledge and significant experience modifying PLC systems from key OEMs including Siemens, Rockwell & Mitsubishi.
* Ability to modify PLC software to allow machine‑level data flows to a centralised OPC UA server.
* Minor control panel electrical modifications to accommodate additional network communications cards, LV power supply & network cabling terminations.
* Actively design & implement/commission system modifications in alignment with the OT project engineer and site operational leads.
* Evidence of appropriate attainment of health, safety and environmental standards training and proven track record safely deploying automation system modifications.
* Ability to communicate effectively and proactively with cross‑functional teams and internal customers regarding planned activities and any associated risk impacts.
* Server Hardware, Virtualisation & Industrial Networking Technologies implementation/delivery knowledge & experience.
* Packaging Machinery, Line Management & Control Systems delivery knowledge & experience.
* Continuous Process Control systems project delivery experience.
* Experience working within large FMCG organisation(s) (preferred).
* Proficiency reviewing solution designs using logical and physical architecture diagrams.
* Over 10 years’ experience with suitable electrical engineering discipline education (Mandatory).
Desirable Skills
* Manufacturing Execution Systems delivery knowledge & experience demonstrating extensive experience with IT/OT integration.
* Manufacturing cybersecurity risk awareness/experience.
