Location: Preston | Pay: £45k per annum | Shifts: Rota ’ed hours TBC (160 monthly 5 x 9am-5pm per week spread over Mon-Sun based on home’s needs)
We’re a leading therapeutic children’s care provider in the Northwest, supporting young people aged 8–17 from complex and challenging backgrounds, including those with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), trauma, and high-risk behaviours.

You’ll support the Registered Manager with daily operations and step into a senior leadership role when they are on leave, ensuring our young people continue to receive the highest standard of care.

About The Role
Your Role:
As Trainee registered Manager, you will take a hands-on leadership role, oversee daily operations and ensure the home runs smoothly, especially in the absence of the Registered Manager. You’ll acting as senior leader when during RM absence; leading by example, manage shifts, supervise staff, and ensure all care plans, risk assessments, and reports are maintained to a high standard.
You’ll also take an active role in care planning and reviews, staff performance management, safeguarding practices, and building strong partnerships with external professionals and families. You will also be expected to be present during OFSTED inspections, supporting the leadership team to demonstrate compliance, quality of care, and our commitment to continuous improvement.
You’ll guide your team with compassion, resilience, and purpose—always putting the needs and aspirations of the children first
You will be given the opportunity after 12 months to develop into a registered managers role, you will be supported with this over the 12-month period, through your development plan.
👉 What We’re Looking For:
• Level 3 or 4 qualification in Children & Young People’s Workforce (or equivalent)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a senior role within a children’s residential home
• Confident leader with excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Passionate about delivering therapeutic, trauma-informed care

Desired Criteria
* NVQ Level 5 Leadership and Management
Required Criteria
* NVQ Level 3 or 4 Children and Young Peoples Workforce or equivalent
* 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential setting at Deputy Manager Level
* Full UK Manual Driving Licence
