Role Description – Mental Health Support Worker
Gray Healthcare is recruiting a Mental Health Support Worker in the Witham St Hughes area of Lincoln to support a man in his 40s diagnosed with Treatment Resistant Schizophrenia and COPD.
The individual lives independently in his own home and receives 24-hour 1:1 support.
His interests include watching films, listening to music, DJ’ing at his own decks, going out in the community to the pub for coffee, or visiting the seaside.
The support team comprises both male and female staff working on a mix of day shifts (8am to 8pm) and waking nights (8pm to 8am).
We are only recruiting drivers for this role, as the individual has a mobility vehicle for community access.
Support Worker Required Skills and Experience
* Full UK Driving License – Essential.
* Experience in social care, ideally within mental health, with some supporting individuals with schizophrenia.
* Ability to encourage individuals with complex health needs.
* Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviors.
* Experience implementing care plans and risk assessments.
* Current Right to Work in the UK and employment in the UK for at least 6 months. Sponsorship is not available.
* Subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
Hours
36 hours per week, consisting of 3x 12-hour night shifts (8pm to 8am), with alternate weekends.
Induction and Training
Initial online training (company induction, systems, medication) followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK, a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, and person-centered training tailored to the individual. Ongoing training and career development are supported.
