Quality Engineer
RPS Recruitment is proud to be working exclusively with a North West based engineering organsiation who are looking to appoint a talented Quality Engineer who will lead a team of Quality Technicians and champion quality excellence across the business. As the selected Quality Engineer, you will report directly to the Quality Control Manager and act as the primary contact for quality matters within key customer accounts. You will drive improvements using robust data, ensure compliance with standards, and guide a highly capable team while working closely with colleagues across operations and management.
This position is ideal for a Quality Engineer who enjoys problem solving, takes ownership, and is confident influencing others at every level of the business. You will lead review meetings, support the completion of structured quality investigations, participate in audits, manage calibration activity, and support new product introductions through PFMEA, control plans and PPAP documentation.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop a team of Quality Technicians
* Act as the main quality contact for assigned customer accounts
* Support structured problem solving activities including eight discipline reports
* Support MRB decision making
* Chair weekly unit meetings to review non conforming product data and drive improvement
* Use statistical tools such as capability studies, measurement systems analysis and process control
* Support new product introduction activity including PFMEA, control plans and PPAP requirements
* Manage internal calibration records
* Participate in system and process audits
* Support the development and operation of the business management system
What We Are Looking For
* Previous experience in a quality engineering position is preferred
* Degree or equivalent in an engineering related field is preferred
* Strong knowledge of PFMEA, control plans, PPAP, SPC, MSA, eight discipline reports and process capability
* Internal or lead auditor certification is desirable
* Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 is required
* Knowledge of ISO 14001 is desirable
* Excellent communicator with strong problem solving ability
* Able to lead, motivate and influence a team
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a significant workload
* Good proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
